Mi and You is a Wattpad Featured Story!

Say WHAAAAAT?

One of my stories has been chosen to be a Wattpad featured story! I'm am beyond shocked because I never thought that it would have been chosen.

If you're interested in reading Mi and You, head over to Wattpad. It's an unedited draft, though, so it's rough in many places.

February Goals Update

Hey everyone! Can you believe it's already March? This means I have less than a month before I graduate from university. I've already moved to my new place and after about a week or so without internet, I'm finally back. Now, on to track my goals:

  2017 Goals
1. Create and publish paperback versions of The Nutcracker King and Beauty's Daughter
DONE.
2. Publish The Goblin Apple
No change from last month, which is to say, it's not out yet. I'm aiming for a June release date.
3. Revise Red and write the next book
I finished the next book, and it's definitely going to affect how Red is revised. I've also started revising Red, though I think I'd need to work on The Goblin Apple a little more.
4. Sell 100 books
Well, I've sold 4 books so far this year. I'm definitely not on track, but at least I've made a start!

Plans for March:

March will actually be more of a getting ready to work sort of month, so I may just not update on my writing goals until May or June, because I probably won't be getting anything done.

And by the way, if you haven't heard, I'm running a giveaway and it'll be open until the 23rd of March. It's not too late to enter!

Giveaway + Fairy Tale Podcasts I'm Listening To

Guess what? I've started my first ever book giveaway! There's absolutely no need for you to pay to enter, and you can win paperback copies of The Nutcracker King and Beauty's Daughter! So if you only have the ebook copies and want the paperbacks to give to someone, or for yourself, then please enter at the link. To repeat

If you want a chance of winning more free stuff, do check out this group giveaway that I'm taking part in (you can win a free kindle + books in the form of an Amazon gift card), or a giveaway for an Amazon Gift Card and a free copy of an upcoming book over at M.N. Arzu's site. If you have not read Undercurrent, the first in the series, you should do so. It's a fantastic mermaid story.

Since I'm giving away two books based on fairytales, I thought I'd also share the three fairy-tale related podcasts that I've found (and been binging on) recently. Definitely check out:

1. When Wishing Still Helped: I'm not sure if it's been discontinued, since there are only nine episodes, and hasn't been updated in some time, but this podcasts discusses the meaning behind various fairytales.

2. Myths and Legends: A retelling of various myths and legends from King Arthur to Greek Myths and I even saw a Japanese and Chinese myths! There's also a creature of the week segment, if you need monstrous inspiration. No discussion here, but I like listening to the stories. This podcast is regularly updated.

3. Singing Bones: This podcast focuses on the history behind fairy tales, including the variants of fairytales. The last episode was on December 9th, but it seems to be updated sporadically so hopefully a new episode will be released soon.

The links lead to the websites of the three podcasts, which should either let you listen to the episodes directly or lead you to where you can find them. Happy listening and do remember to enter the giveaway!

Goals Update: January

January is over and it feels like it went by in a flash. It's also the 5th day of the Chinese New Year, so the whole "this is 2017" thing is really setting in for me.

Writing-wise, I wrote about 10,000 words this month. I didn't really want to do any rewriting, so I started on a new story but it's pretty slow going. And as for my goals:

2017 Goals
1. Create and publish paperback versions of The Nutcracker King and Beauty's Daughter
DONE. Feels good to end the month with one goal done - it feels like we're off to a good start. And it was amazing to hold a paperback copy of each book in my hands!

2. Publish The Goblin Apple
Still in the works, because both of my cover designers are pretty busy, so I won't be getting a cover for a few months.
3. Revise Red and write the next book (TBD)
I haven't started on Red, but I did decide what I want my next book to be. It's going to be titled Light of the Autumn Moon and it's about a few of the characters that appeared in Red.
4. Sell 100 books
No progress on this front, sadly. I sold 0 books this month.

Plans for February

Apart from writing, I'm planning to host a giveway in addition to taking part in a group giveway! So there will be lots of awesome things to be won - keep an eye out for a post with more details!

On a personal note, I'm preparing to move this month, and then I'll enter the "preparing to start work" phase. Hopefully I still find time to write.

New Covers and Paperback Versions

Hey everyone, I hope your January has been off to a good start.

I managed to finish one item on my goals list - to create paperback versions of The Nutcracker King and Beauty's Daughter! To be honest, I thought it would take a lot more time, but the covers were ready and so here we are.

Are you ready to see the new covers? I know I am.

Without further ado, here's the new cover for The Nutcracker King:

The paperback is available on Amazon for USD $5.99. I've also enabled matchbook pricing, which means you can get the ebook free with the paperback.

And here's Beauty's Daughter:

Beauty's Daughter is also available on Amazon, for the same low price of USD $5.99.

I am really in love with my new covers, and I hope you like them too! I will also be participating in a huge giveaway, and in an anthology, so stay tuned for more details!

Writing/Publishing Goals for 2017

Last year, I made some writing/publishing goals and I managed to meet all of them! So I decided, why not make a few goals this year too?

2017 Goals
1. Create and publish paperback versions of The Nutcracker King and Beauty's Daughter
This is basically just because I want a paperback copy in my hands. To do this, I need to get the paperback covers ready, and I am currently asking two very talented people for help with this. Fingers crossed that I can get this done in early 2017 before I graduate.

2. Publish The Goblin Apple
I was wondering if I wanted to be ambitious and include Twilight Children, but next year is going to be a year of change and I want writing and publishing to be something I enjoy, not something I stress over.

3. Revise Red and write the next book (TBD)

Ideally, I'd like to write two books, like this year, but that's the stretch goal.

This part is the bulk of my writing goal, and of course, I'll be trying to keep up a daily writing habit. I lapsed a bit towards the end of the year, but I'm trying not to beat myself over it and to just continue. But the whole "tracking my writing using excel" method is very effective in making sure I write almost every day, so I'm going to continue that.

4. Sell 100 books

Over the last year and a month, I've sold slightly more than 50 copies. So for 2017, I want to try and double that, to 100 copies.

It's not really a direct writing/publishing goal, but it's a step towards making this self-funding. And a way to get me to start thinking more about what kind of marketing strategies I want to try.

Stretch Goals
5. (The 'if I have money' goal) Hire an Editor for Heart-Less
I don't know why, but I like this story and since it's longer than what I normally like (basically it's the length of a novel hahaha), I would like to hire an editor to help point out my weak spots so I can improve.
6. (Stretch goal) Finish Writing Seals vs Penguins
My friend and I have been working on this FOREVER (ok, maybe only like 2 years?) and it's still not done. This is mostly my fault because when I try to do humour, I only succeed like 20% of the time. But I really want to finish this!
7. Publish Twilight Children
I'd need to get a cover, and to finish editing this, so fingers crossed!
